Doubt As Part Of Practice

Somewhere along any long road — a meditation practice, an ethical commitment, a vocation, a faith — doubt arrives. The energy that carried the early years thins, the reasons stop feeling self-evident, and a quiet voice asks whether any of it matters. Most people meet this as evidence of failure: theirs, or the path's. The contemplative traditions read it differently. Doubt is a passage, not a verdict — an expected stretch of the road, and often the stretch where a borrowed conviction becomes a genuinely owned one.
